Allen O'Bannon
Allen O'Bannon has worked as an outdoor educator and guide for over 20 years. He turned much of this knowledge into three popular illustrated books: Allen and Mike's Really Cool Backcountry Ski Book, Allen and Mike's Really Cool Telemark Tips and Allen and Mike's Really Cool Backpackin' Book. Not content to just work on 6 of the world's continents, Allen has also worked for the United States Antarctic Program helping science groups complete their projects in some of the world's most inhospitable places.
In the winter he makes most of his living from his base out of Victor, Idaho teaching avalanche courses. This also allows him to pursue his favorite adventure – skiing in the backcountry. Other interests include canoeing and kayaking, biking both on the road and in the mountains, climbing, ultimate frisbee and reading.
